INTRODUCTION
SUMINAT 100MG contains Sumatriptan which belongs to a group of medicines called Antimigraine agents. It is used to treat migraine headache and helps to narrow the blood vessels. A migraine is a headache that causes severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. Migraine may be caused by the temporary widening of blood vessels in the head. This medicine reduces the widening of these blood vessels and helps to take away the headache and relieve other symptoms of a migraine attacks.
Sumatriptan is a selective serotonin (or 5-HT) receptors located on blood vessels in your brain which constricts cerebral blood vessels and used in the treatment of acute migraine attacks and also reduces the widening of blood vessels.
Before taking this SUMINAT 100MG inform your doctor if you any have heart problems, high blood pressure, circulation problems, kidney or liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using this medicine. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Do not drive or operate any machines, if you experience drowsiness. The common side effects are dizziness, weakness, pain, heaviness, hot flushes and drowsiness.

HOW SUMINAT 100MG WORKS
SUMINAT 100MG narrows the blood vessels in the head, stopping pain signals from being sent to the brain, and blocks the release of certain natural substances that cause pain, nausea, and other symptoms of migraine.

Always take SUMINAT 100MG exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow this medicine with a glass of water and do not crush or chew.

SERIOUS
- Rash, hives, wheezing, swollen eyelids, face and lips

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
There is only limited information about the safety of SUMINAT 100MG for pregnant women, though up till now there is no evidence of any increased risk of birth defects. Your physician will weigh the benefits and potential risks before prescribing it to you.
BREASTFEEDING
SUMINAT 100MG may excrete in breast milk, hence it should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or handle any machines if you feel drowsiness while taking this medicine.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine may cause drowsiness.
KIDNEY
There is limited information available on the use of SUMINAT 100MG in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
SUMINAT 100MG is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease, and it should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sumatriptan.
HEART DISEASE
SUMINAT 100MG is not recommended in patients with heart problem such as narrowing of the arteries or chest pains (angina) or had a heart attack. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Inform your doctor before taking this medicine, if you have or had condition such as,
- Circulation problems in your legs
- Stroke or a mini-stroke
- High blood pressure
- History of fits (seizures)
INTERACTIONS
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
- Ergotamine, methysergide, naratriptan, rizatriptan, zolmitriptan (treat migraine)
- MAOIs, SSRIs and SNRIs (treat depression)
- St John’s Wort (herbal medicine)
- Sulphonamides (treats infection)
