LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET belongs to a group of medicines called anti-convulsants or anti-epileptics used to treat epilepsy/seizures/fits. Epilepsy is a sudden rush of electricity in the brain. In epilepsy the brain’s electrical rhythms become imbalanced, resulting in recurrent seizures. In patients with seizures, the typical brain electrical pattern is disrupted by sudden bursts of electrical impulse that affect an individual’s consciousness, movements or sensations.
LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET works by reducing the attacks of seizures or epilepsy by decreasing the nerve impulses that cause fits. Thereby helps in controlling seizures. In epilepsy the brain’s electrical rhythms become imbalanced, resulting in recurrent episodes. In patients with seizures, the typical brain electrical pattern is disrupted by sudden bursts of electrical impulse that affect an individual’s consciousness, movements or sensations.
Take LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET with or without food. The tablet form of LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break the tablet. The liquid form of LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the container well before each use. You are advised to take LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as dizziness, sleepiness, tiredness, headache, nausea, vomiting, double vision, stomach pain, diarrhoea or constipation, and weakness. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
To treat your condition effectually, continue taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Please do not stop taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET without consulting your doctor to avoid precipitating seizures. Do not take LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor. Avoid taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET while breastfeeding as it may cause side-effects in the breastfed babies. LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive if you are alert. LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET should not be given to children unless prescribed. Avoid consuming alcohol along with LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET as it could lead to increased dizziness and sleepiness. Do not take LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor before taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET if you have or had heart problems, kidney and liver problems, if you have low levels of sodium in blood or if you are taking medicines that could lower the levels of sodium in the blood, or if you are using hormonal contraceptives. Do not stop taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET without consulting your doctor to avoid precipitating seizures. Avoid intake of LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor. Nursing mothers should consult the doctor before using LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET as it may pass into the breast milk and affect the baby. LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET should not be given to children unless prescribed. DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS: LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET may have interaction with antipsychotic (aripiprazole, lurasidone, quetiapine), sedative (zolpidem), anti-depressant (duloxetine, escitalopram, pregabalin, fluoxetine, trazodone, sertraline), antibiotics (erythromycin), pain killer (hydrocodone, methadone), anti-convulsant (lamotrigine, topiramate), antacid (esomeprazole), anti-anxiety (alprazolam), an antihistamine (cetirizine).
FOOD-DRUG INTERACTIONS: Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET as it might cause increased dizziness and sleepiness.
DRUG-DISEASE INTERACTION: LOVAX OD 600MG TABLET may have interactions with disease conditions such as depression, liver disease, kidney dysfunction, suicidal tendency, irregular heartbeat, thyroid dysfunction, hyponatremia (low levels of sodium in the blood), and blood disorders.
