Nulong Trio Tablet (Cilnidipine)
Nulong-Trio Tablet is a combination medicine which may be used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It may also help to reduce the risk of adverse effects on the heart (complications) associated with high blood pressure levels. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect.

Uses of Nulong-Trio Tablet
What is it prescribed for?
Hypertension
This medicine may be used in the treatment of hypertension, which is an increase in the blood pressure levels that may be caused by genetic and/or environmental factors.
When not to use?
Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to chlorthalidone, other sulfonamides, cilnidipine, olmesartan, any other angiotensin-receptor blockers, or any other inactive ingredients present along with these medicines.
Aliskiren
Coadministration of aliskiren and Nulong-Trio Tablet is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Coadministration of these medicines is contraindicated in patients suffering from diabetes, patients with CrCl less than 60 ml/min and in elderly patients since the risk of serious adverse effects is significantly high in these patients.
Anuria
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with anuria, a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Severe renal impairment
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl < 30 ml/min) due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.
Severe liver impairment
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

Pregnancy

General warnings
Hyperkalemia
This medicine may increase potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Use in Children
This medicine is not recommended for use in children since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Hypotension
Use of this medicine may increase the risk of hypotension (low blood pressure levels), especially in patients with volume depletion. Regular monitoring of blood pressure levels is recommended while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.
Liver Disease
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patient’s suffering from liver diseases due to an increase in the risk of serious adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function is advised while taking this medicine. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Volume and electrolyte disturbances
This medicine may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels in some patients. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance. This risk is especially higher in patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases. Close monitoring of blood pressure and electrolyte levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Kidney Disease
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of kidney diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Driving or operating machinery

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Diabetes Mellitus

Appropriate dose adjustments either for this medicine or the antidiabetic medicine or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Hyperuricemia
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hyperuricemia (increased uric acid levels in the blood) since it may decrease the uric acid excretion and further worsen the patient’s condition. Close monitoring of uric acid levels, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Hyperlipidemia
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hyperlipidemia since it may increase the cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Close monitoring of cholesterol and triglyceride levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects such as dizziness, headache, swelling of hands and feet, etc.
Lab interactions
Urinary vanillylmandelic acid
Report the use of this medicine if you have been asked to undergo this test for the presence of adrenal gland tumor. Use of this medicine is likely to give a false value that might be higher than normal.
