INTRODUCTION
DAXID 100MG contains Sertraline which belongs to a group of medicines called Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors. It is used to treat depression and or anxiety disorders. It works by increasing the levels of a mood-enhancing chemical called serotonin in the brain that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being, and happiness.
Take DAXID 100MG according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine whole, do not crush or chew. It can be taken with or without food. This medicine is not recommended in children and adolescents less than 18 years old, except for patients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The common side effects are nausea, insomnia, headache and diarrhea. Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with this medicine. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have epilepsy, diabetes, liver, kidney and heart problems and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be taken in combination with grapefruit juice, as this may increase the level of medicine in your body.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluid, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicine without consulting your doctor.

PREGNANCY
DAXID 100MG should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
BREASTFEEDING
DAXID 100MG should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
It may affect ability to drive or operate machines.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with DAXID 100MG.
KIDNEY
DAXID 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
DAXID 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sertraline.
HEART DISEASE
DAXID 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Inform your doctor if you have or had,
- Epilepsy (seizures)
- Manic depressive illness or schizophrenia
- Serotonin syndrome
- Low sodium level in blood
- Diabetes
- Bleeding disorders
- Electro-convulsive therapy
- Eye problems
INTERACTIONS
Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,
- Moclobemide, lithium, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, nefazodone, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine (used to treat depression), selegiline (used to treat Parkinson’s disease)
- Linezolid and methylene blue (used to treat high levels of methaemoglobin in the blood)
- Pimozide, perphenazine, levomepromazine and olanzapine (used to treat mental disorders)
- St. John’s Wort (herbal medicine)
- Tramadol, ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid (used to treat severe pain)
- Fentanyl mivacurium and suxamethonium (used in anaesthesia)
- Sumatriptan (to treat migraines)
- Warfarin (used to treat blood clot)
- Diazepam
- Diueretics, verapamil, diltiazem, flecainide, propafenone
- Phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine (used to treat epilepsy)
- Tolbutamide (used to treat diabetes)
- Cimetidine, omeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole (used to treat ulcers)
- Rifampicin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, erythromycin (used to treat bacterial infections)
- Fluconazole, ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole, voriconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
- Ritonavir, telaprevir (used to treat HIV/AIDS)
- Aprepitant (used to prevent nausea and vomiting after an operation or chemotherapy)
