Cetzine is an anti-allergic medicine. It is used to treat allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy throat, itchy/watery eyes, and skin rash. It works by blocking the action of a chemical substance that causes allergy.

Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic Rhinitis is a condition that occurs when you breathe in certain substances that you are allergic to, such as dust or pollen. Symptoms include sneezing, runny/stuffy/itchy nose, cough, itchy throat, itchy/watery eyes, etc. Cetirizine is effective in the treatment of both seasonal allergic rhinitis which is specific to a particular season, and perennial allergic rhinitis which can occur at any time of the year.
Chronic Urticaria
Chronic Urticaria, also known as hives, is an allergic condition of your skin. It may occur in response to insect bites, certain chemicals, food, medicines, etc. The symptoms include itchy and red/skin coloured bumps on your skin surface. Cetirizine is used to treat such skin allergies.

When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Cetirizine if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any worsening of your allergic symptoms such as skin rash, redness and/or itching (especially of the face, lips, throat, etc.), dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc after taking this medicine.
Severe kidney impairment
Cetirizine is not recommended for use if you have severe kidney problems. It may cause accumulation of this medicine in your body and increase the risk of side effects. It may also cause further kidney damage.

Pregnancy

Dispersible tablet (DT): DT dissolves quickly and easily in water. Disperse Cetirizine DT in a teaspoonful or a glass of water before administration. Do not take the medicine if the tablet is not dissolved/dispersed entirely in water.
Mouth Dissolving (MD)Tablet: Keep Cetirizine MD Tablet in your mouth. It will dissolve in a short period of time (within seconds). Swallow the medicine with saliva. You can drink an adequate amount of water after swallowing the medicine.
Syrup/Suspension/Drops: Shake the bottle well before measuring the dose. Measure an appropriate dose using the measuring spoon, cup, or dropper.
