Betnesol 0.5mg Tablet 20’s belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids primarily used to prevent allergies including swelling, itching redness, heat and pain caused due to certain skin problems such as psoriasis (scales and itchy, dry patches), dermatitis (itchy, swelling of the skin) and eczema (itchy, cracked, swollen or rough skin). The swelling of the skin occurs when an allergic reaction or skin irritation releases several substances in the skin that widens blood vessels and cause itching, redness, pain and swelling in the irritated area.
Betnesol Tablet 20’s is a steroid that works by acting inside skin cells and inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching and swelling. When the skin reacts to any type of allergens, such chemicals are released normally.
Betnesol Tablet 20’s is available in oral, topical and injection and ophthalmic dosage forms. The oral and ophthalmic dosage forms of Betnesol Tablet 20’s should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The injection form of Betnesol Tablet 20’s is given by a doctor or nurse. The topical form of Betnesol Tablet 20’s should be applied as a thin layer on the affected area of the skin 1 or 2 times daily. Avoid contact of Betnesol Tablet 20’s with nose, mouth or eyes. In case Betnesol Tablet 20’s comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Some people may experience itching, pain, irritation or burning sensation of at the site of application. Most of these side effects of Betnesol Tablet 20’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are known to be allergic to Betnesol Tablet 20’s or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Betnesol Tablet 20’s. Do not use Betnesol Tablet 20’s in more than prescribed doses, or on a large area of skin for a prolonged time as it may cause adverse effects. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with a bandage unless advised by your doctor. Avoid using Betnesol Tablet 20’s for more than 5 days in children and on the face. If you are using Betnesol Tablet 20’s in topical form, avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) that is in contact with Betnesol Tablet 20’s catches fire and burns easily. If you have diabetes, glaucoma, psoriasis, cataracts, adrenal gland or liver problems, inform your doctor before taking Betnesol Tablet 20’s.

Directions for Use
Topically: Wash your hands before and after applying Betnesol Tablet 20’s. Take a small amount of Betnesol Tablet 20’s and apply as a thin layer on the affected area of the skin 1 or 2 times every day. Betnesol 0.5mg Tablet 20’s is only for external use. If you are using Betnesol 0.5mg Tablet 20’s on face, avoid contact with eyes as it may cause irritation. In case Betnesol Tablet 20’s comes in contact with eyes accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.Orally: If you are prescribed Betnesol Tablet 20’s in oral form, swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water. Take Betnesol Tablet 20’s with or without food. Do not break, crush or chew it.Ophthalmic (eye drops): Use Betnesol Tablet 20’s as prescribed by your doctor. Apply 1 or 2 drops of Betnesol Tablet 20’s for every one or two hours in the affected eye. Your doctor will advise you how many drops to instil based on your medical condition. Do not swallow Betnesol Tablet 20’s. Please do not touch the container tip to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Betnesol Tablet 20’s and cause eye infections.Injection: Betnesol Tablet 20’s in injection form is given locally at the site of inflammation, into a vein or deep into a muscle by a doctor or nurse.

Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Betnesol Tablet 20’s may interact with drugs used to lower high blood pressure (metoprolol), pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), antianxiety drugs (alprazolam), laxatives (magnesium sulphate), blood thinners (warfarin).
Drug-Food Interaction: Betnesol Tablet 20’s may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid the consumption of alcohol with Betnesol Tablet 20’s.
