Atormac CV 10mg Capsule 10’s is a combination drug composed of a blood-thinning agent and cholesterol-lowering agent primarily used to prevent heart attack and stroke in the future. It lowers the raised level of cholesterol and fats (triglycerides) in our body. A heart attack occurs when your coronary arteries (blood vessel supplying blood and oxygen to the heart) becomes blocked due to build-up of fats (plaque) including cholesterol. These plaques narrow the arteries, leading to atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease, mainly for most heart attacks.
Atormac CV 10mg Capsule 10’s is composed of two medicines, namely: Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication which blocks the enzyme required to make cholesterol in the body. As a result, it lowers the bad cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins or LDL), triglycerides (TG) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins or HDL). Clopidogrel is a blood thinner (anticoagulant) that collectively prevents a clot in the blood vessels. Together Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s reduces the increased levels of bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein and triglycerides) and prevents blood clot, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke and heart-related chest pain (angina).
You can take Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s with food or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, or break it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. You may experience headaches, ankle swelling (oedema), slow heart rate, and nausea in some cases. Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s is known to cause dizziness, so driving should be avoided. Most of these side effects of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Try not to stop taking Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s of your own. Suddenly stopping Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s may worsen your condition and increase your risk of a future heart attack. Let your doctor know if are sensitive to atorvastatin, clopidogrel or have any active liver disease (liver enzymes abnormalities), active bleeding issues (like peptic ulcer, brain haemorrhage), or muscle problem (myopathy, rhabdomyolysis). Atorvastatin present in Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s is a pregnancy category X drug, so it should not be given to pregnant women. Side Effects of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s
Like other medicines, Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s to have some side effects. However, these side effects are temporary and resolve after some times. The most common side effects of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s are bleeding (stomach bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, nose bleeding), rash, diarrhoea, stomach ulcer, muscle disease (like myopathy, rhabdomyolysis), and abdominal pain. In rare cases, it can cause bruising (an injury transmitted through unbroken skin to underlying tissue causing rupture of small blood vessels and escape of blood into the tissue with resulting discolouration). It is not necessary for everyone to experience the above side effects. In case of any discomfort, speak with your doctor. If you have any signs of blood clot problems like angina (chest pain), difficulty in breathing, sudden loss of vision, or pain/redness/swelling in an extremity, immediately consult your doctor.

Atorvastatin present in Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s is a pregnancy category X drug, so it is contraindicated in pregnant women. As it may cause harm to the foetus if administered to pregnant women. The risk of muscle disease might increase if Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s is taken with an antibiotic (clarithromycin), anti-HIV drugs (ritonavir, lopinavir, darunavir, atazanavir, indinavir) and antifungal (itraconazole). Coadministration with anticoagulant like warfarin may cause gastric bleeding and other bleeding problems. So, if you are using any blood-thinning agents let your doctor know about this. Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s contains Atorvastatin which can cause muscle problems like myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Patients with active liver disease should use Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s with caution. Safety and effectiveness of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s have not been established, so its use should be avoided in paediatric patients or children less than 10 years of age. Discontinuation of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s may lead to the occurrence of cardiovascular events like heart attack, stroke and angina (heart-related chest pain). Hence, you should consult a doctor before stopping the dose of Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s interacts with Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s so it should be used with caution with antibiotics (clarithromycin), anti-HIV drugs (ritonavir, lopinavir, darunavir, atazanavir, indinavir) and antifungal (itraconazole), blood thinners (warfarin, coumadin, heparin), anti-arthritis drug (colchicine), heart-related medicine (digoxin) and immune system affecting drug (cyclosporine).
Drug-Food Interaction: Alcoholic beverages and grapefruit or its juice intake should be avoided with Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s. It may interact with Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s to produce unpleasant side effects like muscle problems and bleeding disorder.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Atormac CV 10 Capsule 10’s should not be given to the patients with active liver disease, active bleeding issues (like peptic ulcer, brain haemorrhage), muscle problems or musculoskeletal problems (myopathy, rhabdomyolysis), asthma, and purpura (blood leakage under the skin).
