INTRODUCTION
VILPOWER 50 MG contains vildagliptin which belongs to the group of medicines called oral anti-diabetic agents. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, when it cannot be controlled by diet or exercise. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition in which your body does not make enough insulin, and or the insulin that your body produces does not work as well as it should.
It helps to control the elevated sugar levels in your blood. It works by making your pancreas secrete more insulin, a hormone which is involved in glucose absorption and less glucagon. Your doctor might prescribe VILPOWER 50MG either alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines, which you are already taking. Along with the treatment, it is important to follow simple diet and/or exercise which has been recommended for you.
Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption while taking this medicine. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are headache, dizziness, tremor and weakness. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or pancreatic disorders. Consult your doctor, before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.
