Work
This medication has bronchodilatory properties and works by selectively binding to beta-2 adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscles. It results in the activation of intracellular adenyl cyclase which catalyzes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic-3”,5”-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and leads to bronchodilation. Also, it works by inhibiting the release of multiple cell types (mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) that cause inflammation thus helps in the treatment of allergic disorders and reduces inflammation.
