Femovan Tablet (Ethinyl Estradiol)
Femovan Tablet is used for Prevention of pregnancy, Used with ethinyl estradiol in the combined oral contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy, Irregular menstrual cycle, Pregnancy prevention, Failure of ovarian development, Acne, Avoid pregnancy, Oral contraception, Menstrual bleeding pain and other conditions. Femovan Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Femovan Tablet contains Ethinylestradiol and Gestodene as active ingredients.
Femovan Tablet works by inhibiting the ovulation; changing the lining of the uterus and preventing release of eggs;
Uses
Femovan Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:
Prevention of pregnancy
Used with ethinyl estradiol in the combined oral contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy
Irregular menstrual cycle
Pregnancy prevention
Failure of ovarian development
Acne
Avoid pregnancy
Oral contraception
Menstrual bleeding pain
Side-effects
The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Femovan Tablet. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.

Suppression of libido
Nausea
Cervical erosion
Acne
Amenorrhea
Anaphylactic reactions
Cholestatic jaundice
Colitis
Dizziness
Edema
Abdominal pain
Increased weight
Headache
Depressed mood
Altered mood
Breast pain
Breast tenderness
Femovan Tablet may also cause side-effects not listed here.

Precautions
Before using Femovan Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
Age above 35 years
Avoid smoking during drug intake
Consult a doctor if you have diabetes, obesity, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, mild hypertension, migraine, mental illness or gallbladder disease
Have regular breast and gynecology exams while on this medication
Irregular bleeding may occur during the first few months of use; however, contact doctor if bleeding continue after the first few months of use
Monitor blood glucose as this medication may increase blood sugar levels
Patients with acute or chronic disturbances of liver
Patients with diabetics
Patients with galactose intolerance
Patients with hepatic impairment
Interactions with Femovan Tablet
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Femovan Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Femovan Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Aminoglutethimide
Barbiturates
Carbamazepine
Cyclosporin
Dicoumarol
Felbamate
Griseofulvin
Hydrocortisone
Lamotrigine
Nevirapine
When not to use Femovan Tablet
Hypersensitivity to Femovan Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Femovan Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
Active liver disease
Avoid postoperative thromboembolism
Coronary and cerebrovascular diseases or a history of it
Diabetes mellitus with vascular involvement
Disturbed lipometabolism
Hereditary thrombophilia
History of jaundice during past pregnancy
History of pancreatitis if associated with severe hypertriglyceridemia
Hyperlipidaemia
Hypersensitivity to this drug
