INTRODUCTION
DOMSTAL contain domperidone which belongs to a group of medicine called dopamine antagonists. It is used to treat nausea and vomiting in adults and adolescents. It increases the movement of food through the stomach and the digestive tract more quickly, thus reducing the feeling of bloating, fullness and indigestion. It works by blocking the action of a chemical in your brain which causes the feeling of nausea and vomiting.
This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 12 years of age and older with a body weight of less than 35kg. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effect of this medicine is dry mouth.

HOW DOMSTAL WORKS

SIDE EFFECTS OF DOMSTAL
SERIOUS
Allergic reaction such as swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, itching, lumpy rash (hives) or nettle rash (urticaria)
Uncontrolled movements symptoms such as irregular eye movements, unusual movements of the tongue, and abnormal posture such as a twisted neck, trembling and muscle stiffness
Very fast or unusual heartbeat
Fit (seizure)

Dry mouth
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Itching:
Apply a cold, wet cloth, or ice pack on the itching area. Take an oatmeal bath. Moisturize your skin. Apply cooling agents such as menthol and calamine.

PREGNANCY
DOMSTAL should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
BREASTFEEDING
DOMSTAL is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
DOMSTAL does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with DOMSTAL.
KIDNEY
DOMSTAL should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
DOMSTAL is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases. Before taking this medicine consult your doctor.
ALLERGY
Do not take DOMSTAL if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to domperidone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
DOMSTAL is not recommended in patients with active heart diseases. Before taking this medicine consult your doctor.
OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,
A tumour of the pituitary gland (prolactinoma)
A blockage or tear in your intestines
Black, tarry bowel motions (stools) or blood in your bowel motions (symptoms of bleeding in the stomach or intestines)
A problem that gives you a low level of potassium or magnesium, or a high level of potassium in your blood
AIDS/HIV
INTERACTIONS
Talk to your doctor if you are taking,
Azole anti-fungals, specifically oral ketoconazole, fluconazole or voriconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
Antibiotics such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, moxifloxacin, pentamidine (used to treat bacterial infections)
Amiodarone, dronedarone, quinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide, sotalol, diltiazem, verapamil (used to treat heart problems or high blood pressure)
Haloperidol, pimozide, sertindole (used to treat psychoses)
Citalopram, escitalopram (used to treat depression)
Cisapride, dolasetron, prucalopride (used to treat Gastro-intestinal disorders)
Mequitazine, mizolastine (used to treat allergy)
Halofantrine (used to treat malaria)
Protease inhibitors (used to treat AIDS/HIV)
Toremifene, vandetanib, vincamine (used to treat cancer)
