INTRODUCTION
Dapaglyn 5mg contain Dapagliflozin which belongs to a group of medicine called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus and helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a condition in which your body does not make enough insulin, and or the insulin produces does not work. When this happens, your body makes too much of sugar (i.e. glucose) which gets build up in the blood resulting in serious health problems.
This medicine is strictly not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years. Your blood sugar will be monitored by your doctor periodically, with regular blood test, including your blood sugar level and your hemoglobin A1C. Stay on exercise and diet as prescribed by your doctor while taking this medicine. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, or pancreas problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

HOW DAPAGLYN 5 WORKS
Dapaglyn 5mg works by blocking some of the sugar and sodium reabsorption in the kidneys and makes body to flush sugar away in urine. This effects on the kidneys may also help improve your heart’s ability to pump blood to the body and thus reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always take Dapaglyn 5mg exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Stay on your prescribed diet and exercise program while taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS OF DAPAGLYN 5
SERIOUS
- Low blood sugar (symptoms such as headache, drowsiness, hunger, weakness, dizziness, fast heartbeat, confusion, irritability, shaking or feeling jittery, sweating)
- Kidney problems
- Increased fats in your blood
- Ketoacidosis (symptoms such as nausea, tiredness, vomiting, trouble breathing, abdominal pain)
- Dehydration
- Pain or tenderness, swelling, redness of skin between or around anus and genitals
COMMON
- Vaginal yeast infection and yeast infections of the penis
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Sore throat
- Urinary tract infections
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.
Dizziness:
Lying down and closing the eyes. drink plenty of water and keep hydrated. Take plenty of sleep.
Nausea and vomiting:
Keep try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
Abdominal pain:
Keep try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly and smaller and frequent meals. Applying a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.

PREGNANCY
DAPAGLYN 5 should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
BREASTFEEDING
DAPAGLYN 5 should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking this medicine, since it may make you feel dizzy.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with DAPAGLYN 5.
KIDNEY
DAPAGLYN 5 is not recommended in patients with active kidney diseases. Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor.
LIVER
DAPAGLYN 5 should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases.
ALLERGY
Do not take DAPAGLYN 5 if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Dapagliflozin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,
- Type 1 diabetes or have diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have or have had bladder cancer
- Have a history of urinary tract infections
- Going to have surgery
- Have or have had problem with your pancreas
