INTRODUCTION
COLOSPA 135MG contains Mebeverine hydrochloride which belongs to a group of medicines called antispasmodics. It helps to relax the muscles of the gastro-intestinal tract (gut). Anticholinergics are a group of medicines which acts on the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. They are also called antispasmodics. Anticholinergics prevent impulses from the parasympathetic nervous system from reaching the smooth muscle by blocking the action of acetylcholine which is responsible for contractions, cramps or spasms.
It is used in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and similar problems such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition which causes spasm and pain in the gut or intestine. The intestine is long muscular tube which food passes down and so it can be digested.
