Brakke Tablet
BRAKKE TABLET is a combination medicine that consists of Ofloxacin and ornidazole. It is a prescription medicine used to treat diarrhoea caused by bacteria and parasites (micro-organisms that live in other’s bodies and use their nutrients to reproduce) in adults. BRAKKE TABLET works by killing the bacteria and parasite by blocking their reproduction process.
BRAKKE TABLET may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, headache and stomach pain. Usually, these side effects are self-resolving. Avoid driving and operating machines after taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. BRAKKE TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.

Uses of BRAKKE TABLET
What is it prescribed for?
Diarrhoea
Diarrhoea is characterized by abnormally loose or watery stools more than 3 times a day. This can be caused by bacteria or parasites. BRAKKE TABLET is used to kill these micro-organisms and thus treats diarrhoea in an adult population.
When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking BRAKKE TABLET if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness or breathing difficulty, etc.
Tendinitis or tendon rupture
BRAKKE TABLET can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Avoid taking BRAKKE TABLET if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).
Myasthenia gravis
Myasthenia gravis is a condition of skeletal muscle weakness characterized by severe muscle pain, including the arms and legs. BRAKKE TABLET is not recommended for use if you have myasthenia gravis as it may worsen your health condition.

Pregnancy
BRAKKE TABLET is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Breast-feeding
BRAKKE TABLET is not recommended to be used during breastfeeding. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Once breastfeeding gets resumed after the therapy, the baby should be observed for diarrhoea and yeast infection (diaper rash or a thick white coating on your baby’s tongue).
General warnings
Antibiotic resistance
Finish your entire course of treatment with BRAKKE TABLET, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.
Photosensitivity
BRAKKE TABLET may make you highly sensitive to sunlight or UV (ultraviolet) radiation. You are advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid reactions to sunlight during treatment with this medicine.
Muscle damage
BRAKKE TABLET can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.
Drowsiness
BRAKKE TABLET may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Do not drive a vehicle or operate a machine after taking this medicine.
Dosage
Missed Dose
If you forget to take a BRAKKE TABLET dose take it as soon as you remember. If the time of your next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of BRAKKE TABLET, contact your doctor immediately.
