Betafree Eye Drop
Betafree Eye Drop is commonly available in the form of a solution, to be administered as eye drops. It is mainly used to reduce elevated levels of pressure in the eye, especially in patients suffering from ocular hypertension and / or open-angle glaucoma. This drug is an inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase, which causes an increased amount of fluid to be present in the eye. Hence, this medicine works by reducing the amount of fluid present in the eye, which further leads to a reduction in the ocular pressure.
Consult your doctor if you wear contact lenses. The chances of this medicine being absorbed into your bloodstream are very low, and hence negligible, so the probability of any drug interactions with this medicine is very low. You are strongly recommended to avoid using these eye drops if you have had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in this medicine. You are advised to avoid using these drops if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The drops may cause a brief stinging or burning sensation in the eyes, which is quite normal; but if this persists, consult with your medical practitioner. This medication may cause blurred vision; do not drive in such cases.

Work
Betafree Eye Drop is a highly specific, reversible, non competitive inhibitor of Carbonic Anhydrase II involved in aqueous humor secretion. CA inhibition in the eyes slows down bicarbonate formation and reduces transport of sodium and fluids, which reduces aqueous humor secretion and intraocular pressure.
