Description
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythms). It is also used to prevent angina (chest pain that radiates to arms, neck and back), and also to improve survival after a heart attack. It works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure.
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is also used to treat pheochromocytoma (tumour of a small gland near the kidneys), tremors (uncontrolled trembling or shaking movements in one or more parts of your body), and hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (a heart condition caused due to abnormal thickening of heart muscle) and migraine (severe, one-sided headaches).
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR may cause some side effects like tiredness, unusual weakness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects are temporary and subside with time. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it.
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is recommended to be taken on an empty stomach. The dose and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor. You should not stop taking Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your condition.

Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents for the treatment of high blood pressure which may be caused by genetic or environmental factors. It slows down your heart rate and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood.
Angina pectoris
Angina pectoris is a heart condition characterized by pain in the chest radiating to the arms, neck and back. It is caused by reduced blood flow to your heart. Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR widens the blood vessels in your body and improves the blood flow, thus decrease the frequency of chest pain.
Migraine
Migraine is a headache characterized by a throbbing pain that is usually accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light and sound. Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is used for the prevention of migraine headaches. However, the efficacy of this medicine in relieving migraine headaches is unknown.
Hypertrophic subaortic stenosis

When not to use?
Allergy

Congestive Heart Failure
Congestive Heart Failure is a condition in which the heart muscle does not pump blood properly. Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is not recommended if you have this condition as it may increase the risk of complete loss of heart function.
Cardiogenic shock
Cardiogenic shock is a condition in which your heart suddenly stops pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to the brain, kidneys, and other vital organs. Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is not recommended for use if you have a cardiogenic shock as it may further worsen your condition.
Severe bradycardia
Bradycardia is a heart condition in which the heartbeat becomes very low than normal. Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland (a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck) produces excess thyroid hormones. A dose adjustment of Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR may be required if you have a hyperactive thyroid gland because the clearance of Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is increased from your body in such conditions. Inform your doctor if you have hyperthyroidism.
Sports
It is advised to not indulge in certain sports while you are on treatment with Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR. Archery, racing, shooting, and other high-risk sports should be avoided. Sportspersons should refer to the list of banned medicines published by the World Anti-Doping Agency while participating in specific sports events.
Driving or operating machines
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR may occasionally make you feel dizzy or tired. It is recommended that you do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Asthma

Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is not recommended for use if you have bronchial asthma or other breathing problems like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (an inflammatory lung condition that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs) because it may increase the risk of airway constriction which will further worsen your condition.
Diabetes
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR may mask the symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels) such as blood pressure changes, high pulse rate, etc. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly while taking this medicine.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye condition characterized by an increase in the pressure inside your eyes which can lead to ocular (eye) nerve damage. If you are taking medicines for the treatment of glaucoma you might need a dose adjustment of Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR. Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR when used in glaucoma may further decrease your eye pressure and lead to other complications.
Liver diseases
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR is broken down in your liver and excreted through urine. If you have problems with your liver functioning this medicine can further worsen it. Hence avoid taking Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR if you have such conditions.
Kidney diseases
Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR should be used with caution if you have a history of kidney problems. This medicine is excreted through urine. Using this medicine while you have kidney problems will lead to its accumulation in your body. This can cause permanent damage to your kidneys and worsen your condition. Inform your doctor about your kidney problems.
Food interactions
Taking Betacap 40 MG Capsule TR with multivitamins should be avoided as it may decrease the effects of the medicine. A time gap of at least 2 hours should be maintained between the administration of multivitamins with minerals and this medicine to avoid their interaction.
