INTRODUCTION
Alzil 10 mg contains Donepezil which belongs to a group of medicines called acetyl cholinesterase inhibitors. It is used to treat the symptoms of dementia in people diagnosed as having mild and moderately severe Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disorder that causes brain cells to degenerate and die. Dementia is continuous decline in thinking, behavioral and social skills that disrupts a person’s ability to function independently. The symptoms include increasing memory loss, confusion and behavioral changes. As a result, patients with Alzheimer’s disease find it more difficult to carry out their normal daily activities.
ALZIL 10MG works by stopping acetylcholine from being broken down in your brain. Acetylcholine is an important substance that allows better communication between nerve cells. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have heart problems, stomach ulcers, epilepsy, or asthma, pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. The common side effects are diarrhoea, headache, tiredness and hallucinations.
