In Monotherapy epilepsy, Topaz 100mg Tablet 10’s is suggested for patients above 2 years of age with partial-onset or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. In Adjunctive therapy epilepsy, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s is suggested in patients of 2 to 16 years of age with partial-onset seizures or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures while in patients more than 2 years of age, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s is suggested in patients with seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). In migraine, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s is suggested for prophylaxis of migraine. Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s works by blocking the voltage-dependent sodium and calcium channels and increasing the inhibitory actions of GABA. In epilepsy, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s controls the uncontrolled activity of nerves in the brain and thus prevents or controls seizures. While in migraine, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s tranquilizes the overactive nerve cells in the brain that are responsible for causing migraine.

Generally, Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s should be started in low dose first, and then it should be increased at a gap of 1 or 2 weeks according to the requirement of the patient. In epilepsy, It is important to monitor the plasma concentrations to optimize Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s. This medicine should be taken without regard to meals. If a person is taking Sprinkle Capsules of Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s can be swallowed whole without chewing. However, one can sprinkle the entire contents on the teaspoon of food. This medicine needs to be swallowed immediately and cannot be kept for future use. One should keep taking Topaz 100 Tablet 10’s for the time prescribed by the doctor, stopping it abruptly may cause seizures.
