Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s belongs to a group of medications called Benzodiazepines (BZD) that are primarily used for the treatment of anxiety disorders and prevention of seizures (fits) due to epilepsy.
An anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder characterized by feelings of excessive fear or worry, that affects an individual’s daily activities. Besides this, Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s also relieves temporary insomnia (sleeplessness) due to anxiety disorders.
You can take Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s with food or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, or break it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience daytime drowsiness, disturbed sleep, light-headedness or dizziness. Most of these side effects of Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, please reach out to your doctor.
Do not take this medicine if you have any lung disease, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), sleeping disorders or difficulty in sleeping (sleep apnoea), severe liver disease, or a problem with alcohol or other prescription drugs. Drug Warnings
Taking Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s with opioid medicines can cause severe drowsiness, breathing problems, coma, and death. Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s should be taken with extreme caution in patients with a history of alcohol or drug abuse. Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s may affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery if taken with alcohol. So, if you feel excess suicidal thoughts, difficulty in concentration, sleep disturbances, dizziness, or, sleepiness let your doctor know about this. Pregnant or lactating women should consult a doctor before taking it as it is a Category D pregnancy medication. Do not take Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s if you are allergic to any benzodiazepine class of drugs (diazepam, chlordiazepoxide, bromazepam, or flurazepam), suffer from lung disease, liver disease, glaucoma, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis) or have difficulty in sleeping (sleep apnoea).
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: This medicine may have interaction with antianxiety or antiepileptic medicines (like carbamazepine, fluvoxamine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone), anti-HIV drugs (like amprenavir, ritonavir), acidity medicine (like cimetidine), disulfiram (to treat chronic alcoholism), anti TB drug (like rifampicin), anti-Parkinson’s drug (like levodopa), and asthma drugs (like theophylline). Besides this, central nervous system depressant drugs should be avoided with Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s as it may cause serious side effects.
Drug-Food Interaction: Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s may interact with a multivitamin, multi-mineral, or other herbal supplements. So, if you are using any of the OTC items please tell your doctor.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Obese people (with a BMI greater than 25) should consult a doctor before taking Lonazep MD 0.5 Tablet 10’s.
