INTRODUCTION
COVERSYL 2MG contains Perindopril which belongs to a group of medicines called ACE inhibitors. ACE inhibitors lowers blood pressure by widening blood vessels which allows the blood to flow more easily and reduces the effort needed to pump blood around the body. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, kidney problems in diabetic patients with high blood pressure and also used if you have recently had a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Hypertension also called as high or raised blood pressure, is a condition in which the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure.
COVERSYL 2MG is long-acting angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. ACE is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor substance, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex. The inhibition of ACE results in reducing stress on the heart and relaxes blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
Take COVERSYL 2MG exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose you take will depend on your age, other medications you are taking and whether you have any kidney or liver problems. Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause dizziness or weakness. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache and dizziness.
